Waka Flocka Update

Music: with Mikey P

Atlanta Georgia’s Heroes & Villains comprised of Daniel Disaster and Pete H just destroyed Gucci Mane’s track Lemonade and Waka Flocka Flame’s O Let’s Do It. I would have never given these two tracks a chance prior to Heroes & Villains bass heavy addition, but the Atlanta duo manages to deflate the heavily cocaine induced flow (or heavily congested) of Gucci and Waka while supplementing a bit of reverb and dub.“Lemons on the chains with the v-cuts”…word.

In other dope remix news Diplo and Maddecent have been backing Mediaz Empire’s Pon Di Floor Riddim, which is a collection of Pon Di Floor remixes. If you are met with an unconquerable urge to dance whenever a dancehall beat is cranked through a set of speakers then thistape is for you, if not this tape is still for you.

Song Requesters

How did your parents/environment irreparably damage your personality so badly? Daddy issues maybe? C'mon, what is it with you people? Why do the people who insist on requesting songs have the WORST taste in music???

These are the questions I'm left wondering after dealing with a remarkably persistent "request artist" all night. Now I'm not usually a complainer, however this is a phenomenon that all DJs deal with and bond over -- the equivalent of a heckler to a comedian, or throwing food at the royal jester (maybe a far stretch/kind of sad I just compared myself to a jester but whateva). Anyway, as part of today's post I would like to share with my readers and fellow DJs some of the more ridiculous requests that I've encountered:

"Can you play Wagon Wheel?"
- Shot old women who apparently stumbled away from a Jimmy Buffet concert or something of the likes

"Umm, you know that song Dynamite?"
-Every high school girl who got into the club with a fake ID
"No"
-Me

"Yo, play something we can dance to."
-Blacked out kid with a blow out

"Play something Spanish. I'll tip you"

"I don't accept tips"

"Alright, heres $50"

"Whatever" [song played: Temperature - Sean Paul]
-Encounter between me and a wasted Indian dude wearing a bow tie

"Play something Arabic or Indian"

"I don't have any... This is America and I'm American."

"You don't have any DJ Bongabonga?!?"

"No bitch!"

-Encounter with annoying woman who was far too old to be at a club at 1 a.m. on a Wednesday

Well, those are just a few anecdotes I thought I would share with you before continuing on to the main portion of today's post...

Music: Jim Jones - Like Gangstas feat. Snoop Dogg

^^This one's pretty fresh...

Nightlife: BUtterfield8 tomorrow (Friday) night... hope to see a lot of familiar faces!

Television: Nothing today, but Thursdays are the best for TV so tomorrows post will have multiple episodes for your enjoyment.

Sports: Yankees still trail... I'll get back to you when they're in the World Series.

New beats/Le Souk tonight!!

Music: with Mikey P

Thomas Decarlo Callaway better know as Cee-Lo Green recently released a new single entitled Old Fashioned (http://hypem.com/#/track/1237107/Cee+Lo+Green+-+Old+Fashioned). There is not much I can say about it other than it is up to par with his contemporary soulful releases. The track itself sounds a bit dusty (not to be confused with Chico Dusty), and somewhat antiquated, but Callaway’s impassioned belting rises above the old-fashioned and outworn jingle, as well as the backup singers’ pleasingly melodious tune. In keeping with the feminine intonation Will Smith’s cheeky and audacious daughter Willow Smith has made her way into the world of the music video with her single Whip My Hair (http://hypem.com/#/track/1236260/Willow+Smith+-+Whip+My+Hair) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdMOyXddRH0) at the age of nine. With an annoyingly catchy chorus - “I whip my hair back and forth” and inspiring lyrics – “Don’t let haters keep me off my grind” Willow Smith rise to the top of the nine-year-old rap game is insuppressible. Keep your ears to the black top, as this tune will become a pre-teen anthem chanted with a mouth full of tatoe chips and bubble yum.
In other news Pusha t and Pharrell released Arm Game (
http://rapradar.com/2010/10/19/new-music-pusha-t-x-pharrell-arm-game/), which manager Steven Victor claims is two years old. Regardless of the uncertainty that surrounds the track its still pretty dope, but that may be a slight bias as I am a fan of anything to do with Pusha. The track is rounded out with a deliberately or accidentally goofy chorus and a disturbing accordion / squeezebox-polka sound – if that does not sell you on the song I don’t know what will. But, get your play clothes on and give this track a listen.
To wrap this lovely segment up I would just like to point out that Kanye West has allegedly created five album covers; it seems he is employing his creative juices wisely…psyche.

RE-LAUNCH

Ladies and Gents,

Welcome back to your former or soon to be favorite music/entertainment blog…

Anonymous Chronic!

Bookmark it and check back often…

From now on Anonymous Chronic will be updated on a daily/multi-daily basis with the down low on new music, sports, television, and exclusive insider nightlife info for all my NYC residents out there.

For my inaugural “re-launch” post today I would like to share with you a wide variety of the aforementioned media.

Music: 607 STAND UP!

“North-side hit the chefs for the meanest slice or Cortese chicken wings they the keys to life (east-side)”

Strawberry Papers – E-Fluent (prod. By Hannibal King)

^^The illest emcee to come from the Bing ever. Period.

click here for e-fluent's bandcamp ----> here

Another artist I highly recommend you all check out is Queens producer Reckonize Real.
E-Fluent and Reckonize Real have put some work in together recently and if you check out Real's sound I think you will hear why. Very dope beats!

check him out here ------> www.reckonizereal.com

Here are a couple nice house/dance beats I hope you'll enjoy also:

Last but not least for this portion of today's post I would like to share with you my most recent mix (which isn't really that recent at all). I recorded this one on 9/3/10 so it's not my freshest stuff, but I will definitely have some more heat for ya'll soon, and I got a fresh new drop courtesy of E-Fluent which will be featured in my next mix.

Sports: Stewart Scott's long lost son

Here is a little bit of amateur commentary I found on youtube… I thought it was a joke at first, but this guy actually knows his shit. Still funny! And his picks are almost right…

Television:

I’m usually not a South Park fan but this one is GOOD… Don’t hate me if you’re from jersey, it's a new york thing.

Nightlife:

This upcoming week you can catch me at Le Souk on Wednesday night and Butterfield 8 on Friday... Le Souk is still tentative and I will confirm the gig on tomorrows post, but Butterfield 8 is on like donkey kong... same rules apply: $40 open bar from 11-2 or $30 from 12-2 (just say my name at the door). Be sure to check back tomorrow if you plan on going to Le Souk this wednesday.

Also, its never too late to start planning for the holidays. Come check out me and DJ Dopestar Dec. 23rd at Libation.

That's all for today... check back tomorrow and peep that chronic!
